MDU

Dewaxing is a separation process that takes advantage of deasphalted oil (DAO) and heavy vacuum gas oil (HVGO) from the vacuum distillation columns as feedstocks in producing lubricating oil base stock and, to some extent, distillate fuels such as gasoline. D&D has experience with the solvent dewaxing process which uses refrigeration, scraping techniques, and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and other solvents to produce valuable end-products. As wax crystals are formed through this process, they are filtered and separated from the oil and solvent. The wax goes on to produce candle wax and petroleum jelly (also branded as Vaseline) while the dewaxed oil purifies into the desirable lube oil base stock.

Before kicking off a successful MDU shutdown or turnaround, this system requires deep environmental cleaning. With minimising downtime in mind, this requires experience, critical techniques, and specialised tools to ensure no time is lost.
